Nine Ways to keep your closets organized

1. Clear Floor: Clothes are to be kept off of the floor in the closet.

2. Storing: All clothing must have a proper way to be stored.

3. Learn to share. Most women take up 2/3 of the shared closet space. Most clothing is never worn. Remember the 80/20 rule...20% of all clothing is worn 80% of the time. Closets are valuable real estate. Have your clothes that are worn most of the time front and center.

4. Count: There is only so much space! Problems arise when too many clothes are stored in a closet.

5. Hampers: Use color coded hampers to store dirty laundry. White for white clothes, black for colored clothing, another color for dry cleaning.

6. Repairs: Make repairs to all drawers, shelves, rods, and doors that may be broken or missing pieces.

7. Teach by Example: Often clients will tell me they have given up trying just because someone else is not taking care of their shared half of the closet. Your life will be easier if you take care of your belongings in the closet.

8. Being Prepared: Set aside all clothes that will be worn the next day. Everything from lingerie to shoes can be set aside for the following day, making it faster to get dressed in the morning.

9. Stop Shopping: We are green closet organizers which means

Make a conscious choice when you are buying clothes. Look for quality, classic fabrics, and sizes that fit if you gain a few pounds.
